1925 – SALVADOR DALÍ 21 YEARS OLD
After spending the Holy Week holidays in Cadaqués with the company of the poet Federico García Lorca, Dalí participated in the first exhibition organized by the Sociedad de Artistas Ibéricos, held at the Velázquez Palace, in Madrid’s Retiro Park. The exhibition was a success and he immediately received a proposal from Josep Dalmau to organize a solo exhibition at his gallery in Barcelona. Dalí, who had easily passed the second year at the San Fernando Academy, took advantage of the summer holidays to prepare for it. The Galeries Dalmau exhibition was an absolute success. Motivated by the successful exhibitions in Madrid and Barcelona, Dalí began planning a trip to Paris. For a 21-year-old painter with a promising career ahead of him, it was the dream destination.
